Standard concrete driveways are built for high-pressure washing — it's the right tool for the job. We use commercial-grade pressure washing equipment to remove embedded dirt, algae, surface mold, and general soiling from concrete. Pre-treatment is applied before washing for any areas of significant staining. Post-wash rinse ensures no soap residue or loosened debris is left behind. The result is concrete that looks dramatically cleaner and brighter within hours of the job.

Paver driveways require a more careful approach than poured concrete. The joint sand between pavers holds the installation together, and high-pressure washing at the wrong angle will displace or wash it out — leaving you with loose, wobbly pavers and gaps in the joints that invite weed growth. We clean paver driveways at the correct pressure and angle to clean the surface thoroughly without disturbing the joints. If joint sand has been partially displaced, we can top it up after cleaning as part of the service.

Asphalt requires lower-pressure washing than concrete to avoid surface damage. It also needs chemistry that's compatible with the petroleum-based binder in the asphalt — the wrong degreaser can soften or damage the surface. We clean asphalt driveways with appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions, removing algae, surface soiling, and debris without compromising the integrity of the asphalt.

Oil stains are the most common problem we deal with on driveways across the Waldorf area. Motor oil, hydraulic fluid, and cooking grease all penetrate into concrete pores and bond with the surface in a way that water pressure alone won't shift. We pre-treat oil and grease stains with commercial-grade degreaser, agitate, and allow appropriate dwell time before pressure washing. Fresh stains are easiest — most can be fully removed. Older, set-in stains often improve significantly but may not disappear completely depending on how deeply the oil has penetrated. We'll always be straight with you about what's achievable before we start.

Rust stains on concrete are caused by iron oxide — usually from irrigation water running over metal fittings, from metal furniture or planters sitting on the surface, or from rebar close to the concrete surface that's oxidising. Rust stains are a chemical problem, not a pressure problem — more water pressure just spreads the staining. We use oxalic acid or citric-based rust remover treatments that chemically dissolve the iron oxide deposits. In most cases rust staining can be significantly reduced or completely removed.

Tire marks on driveways are caused by rubber transfer from hot tires on warm concrete — most common in summer in the Waldorf area when temperatures are high. Like oil stains, they require degreaser pre-treatment before pressure washing. Most tire marks respond well to professional treatment and can be fully or largely removed in one service.

Efflorescence is the white, chalky mineral deposit that appears on concrete and masonry surfaces when water moves through the material and evaporates, leaving mineral salts behind on the surface. It's extremely common in new concrete and brick installations in Southern Maryland, and it reappears after rain events. Efflorescence isn't harmful but it looks unsightly and indicates water movement through the material. We treat efflorescence with appropriate neutralising chemistry and mechanical washing to remove the deposits — and can advise on whether the underlying water movement issue needs to be addressed.

Walkways, entryway paths, and public sidewalks accumulate the same organic growth and staining as driveways — often faster because they're more shaded and have less vehicle traffic to physically disturb the surface. We clean all sidewalk and walkway surfaces including entryways, garden paths, curb lines, and HOA common area paths.
